The Filarmonica Sestrese association established in 1845 has carried out for more than 160 years its activity in the musical and cultural fields as leading protagonist in the Genoese cultural scene, playing several concerts in the main theatres of the city, working together with dramatic productions and taking part in many music festivals and competitions both in Italy and abroad.
The music school, which counts more than 250 people enrolled, includes courses consisting of every woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, piano and guitar; the main aim of the association is the education of high quality musicians who will be introduced in its wind orchestra, composed of about 60 people of an average age of 25.
Our repertoire includes different music genres: symphonic music, opera, jazz, pop and soundtracks and the orchestra plays eclectic performances suited to satisfy a wide and different audience.
In 2011 the Filarmonica Sestrese has been appointed association of national importance by the Ministry for the activities and cultural heritage.In In 2013 is selected among hundreds of groups to participate at the FIMU (International Festival of the University Music) in Belfort (France).
