The first historical news about the Unione Musicale Condovese (UMC) date back to 1839. Around the same time in other municipalities of Valle di Susa born other band ensembles , including the formation condovese which is certainly one of the oldest. The group has begun to stand out in particular since the eighties, introducing many new elements to the classical conception of band, while not forgetting the references to historical tradition. Over the years he has been able to perform at major music festivals in Italy (Arezzo, Pesaro, Chianciano Terme, Bagni Canicattini (Sicily), Genoa etc…) and abroad (Sweden, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Poland etc…), meeting everywhere acclaim from audiences and critics. In 2007, the orchestra won the second prize at the International Competition of concert bands in Malgrat de Mar (Spain) and in 2012 got the third place in the Second Category at the “Mitteleuropa Blasmusikfest” in Split (Croatia). Among the most notable artistic productions, it is worth remembering the project “Mingus Band” which sees the UMC performing with a jazz quartet; the long-term collaboration with the Assembly Theatre company for a series of performances of musical theater in Turin and province; participation in the final evening of the Festival Grinzane; concerts in Turin for the White Night of the Winter Olympic Games and the International Symposium of Earth Mother; numerous collaborations with musicians from Turin Fabio Barovero and Igor Sciavolino; participation in the Tricolour Night in Turin at the headquarters of the Piedmont Region. Since 2001, the UMC direction is entrusted to the young master Gianluca Calonghi, a musician by profession. The repertoire consists of original pieces for ensembles of wind instruments from soundtracks, pop and jazz. The wind orchestra also compare with the reinterpretation of classic pages and has accompanied many musicians as soloists and in particular professional oboe, violin, euphonium , a choir and opera tenor and soprano voices. The workforce is currently made ​​up of about 55 elements and is enriched with young students, thanks to specialized training courses organized by the group itself, obtaining a considerable success.
